Subaru, the Planet, and You

There are many reasons that people love Subaru, from quality, to comfort, to safety. Recently, however, more and more drivers appreciate not just the ride their Subaru provides, but the responsible method by which it's manufactured. Subaru-owners are typically lovers of the outdoors, and so it only makes sense that they wouldn't want the vehicles they drive to interfere with the nature they respect and enjoy.

Starting in 2004, Subaru decided that all the vehicles it produced would be built in zero-landfill plants. No matter whether it's a Forester, Impreza, Crosstrek, Legacy, or Outback, Subaru assures that all waste leftover from the building process is recycled or turned into electricity. Additionally Subaru of Indiana Automotive is the first and only U.S. automotive plant to be designated as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. These efforts and more have resulted in several awards from the EPA.

Caring for the Earth is as simple as everyone doing their small part; it's inspiring to think of the impact that we could all have by choosing a vehicle that's sustainably-built. That's why Larry H. Miller SubaruBoise is proud to be part of the solution.

Share the Love, Boise!

Press Release:

Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise Participates in 2014 “Share the Love” and Selects Boise Rescue Mission as “Hometown Charity”

BOISE, Idaho (November 12, 2014) – Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise announced today that they are participating in the 2014 “Share the Love” program and selected Boise Rescue Mission as their hometown charity to be added to the list of organizations that customers can select to receive a 2014 Subaru “Share the Love” donation.

“Share the Love” runs from Nov. 20, 2014 to Jan. 2, 2015 and allows Subaru dealerships the opportunity to select charities operating in their community to be included in a list of organizations that new owners or lessees can select from to receive a $250 donation from Subaru of America (SOA).

“For every new Subaru that is purchased or leased during the campaign, the new owner or lessee has the opportunity to select which charity they’d like to benefit with a $250 per vehicle donation,” said Ty Leuthold, general manager, Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise. “We’re excited to participate in the ‘Share the Love’ campaign again this year and support each of the national charities as well as our very own Boise Rescue Mission.”

In the last six years of this program, SOA has donated $35 million to a number of charities through the “Share the Love” campaign. The seventh-annual “Share the Love” program will deliver donations to the following four national charities:
·      ASPCA
·      Make-A-Wish
·      Meals on Wheels Association of America
·      National Park Foundation

In addition to the national charities that are participating, Boise Rescue Mission will be gifted a donation check with money raised from new Subaru owners at the end of the program.

“Boise Rescue Mission is honored that Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise has nominated us as their hometown charity for the ‘Share the Love’ campaign,” said Rev. Bill Roscoe, president/CEO, Boise Rescue Mission. “We look forward to meeting with Subaru customers and sharing our mission and how their donations will benefit the most vulnerable members of our community.”

Subaru of America will donate up to $15 million during this year’s “Share the Love” campaign.

“Subaru of America, Inc. and our local retailers are excited to support all of our charities on both national and local levels in this year’s ‘Share the Love’ program,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “Our customers have a philanthropic spirit and giving back to the communities in which we live and work in is important to all of us at Subaru of America.”

Boise Subaru's water-wise landscape project

Larry H. Miller Subaru would like to thank its partners at the Idaho Botanical Gardens and WillowGlenn Landscape for helping us bring to life
our water-wise landscape project.

Larry H. Miller Subaru is committed to being a leader in environmental initiatives while continuing to reduce our own footprint. From our Subaru’s built in our zero-waste factory, to our involvement with Idaho Botanical Garden and the World’s Center for Birds of prey- being green isn’t a trend, it’s who we are.

What is a Water-Wise landscape?
Water-Wise landscaping is a planning and gardening technique that allows you to:
  • Reduce your landscape water usage by 50% to 60%
  • Spend less time on garden maintenance
  • Create a beautiful natural garden

How did we do it?

Our partnership with the Idaho Botanical Gardens exposed our team to the possibility of doing more to conserve water. Not only could we do more to conserve water at the dealership, we could bring in native drought tolerant plants that would enhance the appearance of the store.

Toby Mancini, the Director of Horticulture at the garden, came to Larry H. Miller Subaru. He looked at our space, understood what we wanted to accomplish, and created a plan to make it all work.

Toby then put us in contact with Jason Doran with Willowglen Landscape. Jason and his team took the Larry H. Miller Subaru vision, Toby’s plan for the space, and made it a reality. It was clear that Jason cared about the project. He and his team created a beautiful space that our employees and customers will enjoy for years to come.

You can see the original plan and photos of the project from start to end below.

Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise ALS Challenge and The LHM 1000

Seriously, August was a busy month for Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise. First off, we had been planning all month for a used car tent sale called the LHM 1000. What we also had come up was the ALS Ice Bucket challenge that came to our store. The senior Vice President for the Larry H. Miller Automotive Group, John O’Brian, challenged our General Manager to do the challenge. Below, you can see how this challenge turned out and how our GM, Ty Leuthold, took the challenge, along with other members of our staff. We did want to conserve water, so we didn't all get dunked with a bucket of ice water. Well, okay, you'll just have to play the video below to see what happened.

On to the topic of the LHM 1000! This is a giant used vehicle sale that we love to do a couple times of year. The pre-owned vehicle sale can range from being done over the Memorial Day weekend at Expo Idaho in Boise, or in June. And this month we decided to do it over the Labor Day weekend. Why not, right?

You won’t find a better deal on a used vehicle than at this sale. We always put a lot of inventory on the ground at Expo Idaho in Boise for the LHM 1000, because we want people to come down and to see a wide selection of vehicles that they can choose from. We also have onsite lending, where customers can get approved for the vehicle that they’re looking for on the spot. The last great part about the LHM 1000, is that we stock the place full of food and goodies while customers are here.

View Idaho's used and pre-owned vehicle inventory here.

We love being a part of this sale every year! As you can see, we've teamed up with two other Larry H. Miller stores: Larry H. Miller Honda Boise and Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Boise. Remember as always, we are a Larry H. Miller Dealership, which means that we are Driven By You!
